WELCOME
FRIENDS IN CHRIST!!
We're glad
you stopped by our page to check out the latest news and happenings of United's Youth!
Here's a little helpful
info while navigating through our pages...
"Fun"draising
/ Service
"Fun"
draising is just what is
says... a fun way to raise funds for special events and activities that
are planned throughout the year. This site is for our JYG and SYG
groups to check out and be informed about what's happened (how much we
made), what's coming
up and when they need to plan on helping out. JYG and SYG members
can earn credit depending on the amount of time they help out with these
events and can use this "credit" to help pay for church
sponsored events in the future. During the year prior to the National Youth Gathering, the SYG will offer additional fundraising
opportunities solely for the purpose of National Youth Gathering
expenses.
Service Projects are
intended to teach our youth that it just feels good to do for
others. We try to offers a variety of opportunities for our youth
to serve others in our congregation and our community. Sometimes
we raise money for charities and other times we offer our services to
those less fortunate.
Click on "Fun"draising/Service
for more details about our fundraisers and service projects and to see photos from
events.
KICS
stands for "Kids In Christ's Service". This bunch is
comprised of 2nd through 5th graders and meets generally
ever-other month for some type of fun group activity or service project. On
their "off" month KICS are invited to attend the FAMILY EVENT
that is schedule for that month. Family Events are for all ages, friends
and neighbors! Click on the KICS News & Photos
page to see
what's happening this month!
S.N.A.C.
(Sunday Night at Church)
is the regular gatherings (A.K.A. Youth Group) that are held at the
church for youth who are in Middle or High School. We generally
meet from 6:30pm-8:00pm.
On the 1st Sunday of
each month ALL YOUTH (Grades 6-12) are invited for an evening of fun
that includes time for:
a devotion or Bible study, event planning, fun-n-games, and (of course),
a SNACK! Friends are ALWAYS welcome at these
gatherings!
The 3rd Sunday of
each month is for our High-school youth only! We spend the
majority of our time together focusing and preparing for our plans for
the future (in church and our own lives). This year (2011- 2012) we
will be spending a lot of our time preparing for the National Youth
Gathering (NYG) that will be held in New Orleans in July 2012. All
youth traveling to the NYG AND their Parents are REQUIRED to attend these meetings!
Please click
on S.N.A.C. for more details
JYG
is the "Junior Youth Group" and includes grades 6-8.
This group gathers once a month for a "fun" activity, service
project or fundraiser and meets on the first Sunday of each month
for S.N.A.C. (a combined monthly Youth
Group Meeting). Friends are welcome at all our gatherings, so be sure to
take a look at JYG News & Photos to see what's
up for this month!
SYG
is our spectacular "Senior Youth Group" which
normally includes grades 9-12 (8th Graders are invited to all events beginning in
January and for the entire school-year prior to an ELCA Youth Gathering). This group gathers at least once
a month for a "fun" activity, service project or fundraiser and
meets regularly twice a month for S.N.A.C. (1st & 3rd Sundays)
during the school year. Be sure to check out SYG News & Photos to see what's
happening this month!
EVERY Sunday Morning: All youth in
grades 7-12 (those not attending Sunday Morning Confirmation Class) are encouraged to attend
Sunday School in the
Youth Room beginning at 10:00am and ending at 10:45am. Please join us as
often as you are able and bring your friends - all are welcome for some fun discussion and Bible
time.
Permission
Forms are needed for each youth at the start of the school year
or before they participate in any church sponsored
activity*. You may
print out a copy of the on-line form and turn it in prior to an event if
you are unable to pick one up at the church.
Click Youth Permission Form to print a
form.
*Some special
events (i.e. Lock-ins, out-of-town or overnight trips) will require an
additional "Special Event
Form" to be filled out by the youth and their parents for that
specific event.
