Education Ministries

Educational opportunities at United involve over 300 volunteer helpers. We, therefore, have a place for you, either as a helper, or a participant. So please prayerfully consider joining our Christian Education Team and reap the fulfilling benefits of sharing with others in the faith formation of our children and adults.

Cradle Roll

Monthly newsletters, called “Parent Pages,” are sent from birth to age three (36 mailings). In addition, a music C.D. is sent each year. They are called “Sleepy Time Tunes (first year), “Totally Toddler Tunes” (second year), and “Singable Sunday Tunes” (third year). The Augsburg/Fortress curriculum called “Splash” is used.

Sunday School

Primary Department —Pre-school (age 3) through 2nd grade
Junior Department—3rd through 6th grades
Confirmation Class— 7th and 8th grades
High School— 9th through 12th grades

3rd Grade—Introduction to the Bible –3 weeks with parents
4th Grade—Holy Baptism-3 weeks with parents
5th Grade—Holy Communion-5 weeks with parents
6th Grade—The Lord’s Prayer-5 weeks with parents
7th & 8th Grades—A 2-year course, a total of 60 weeks Old/New Testaments, Ten Commandments, the Apostles’ Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, Holy Baptism, Holy Communion, Lutheranism, Prayer, Worship
9th Grade—“The Seven Faith Practices” Confirmation on Reformation Sunday (Oct).

Vacation Bible School

(Age 3 through 6th Grade) Last full week in June (9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon)

Faith Stepping Stones

Eight milestone celebrations from birth to high school graduation. They include:
1. Monthly Cradle Roll mailings from birth to 3 years of age.
2. Service for Holy Baptism.
3. Blessing Service to start Sunday school (age 3).
4. Bible Presentation Service to start confirmation (Grade 3).
5. First Communion Service (Grade 5).
6. Acolyte Installation & Blessing Service (Grade 6).
7. Confirmation Day on Reformation Sunday (Grade 9).
8. Blessing Service & Gift — High school graduation.

Adult Education

Two Sunday school classes from 10:00-10:45 a.m.
Men’s Monthly Prayer Breakfast Fellowship group.
Women’s monthly Bible study circle (Deborah)
Midweek Bible Study Classes

Library

Educational resources for all ages—located in the Hansen Chapel. Includes books, videos, audio tapes on a self check-out system.

Scholarship Program

Financial aid to member students in good standing, and attending a recognized institution of higher learning.
