Memorial Committee

The Memorial Committee serves at the discretion of the Congregation Council in order to govern and make recommendations regarding the use of Memorial Funds.
  1. This committee shall consist of one (1) congregational council member and six (6) voting members of the congregation, all of which shall be elected by the congregational council, in such a manner that two (2) are elected each year to serve a three-year term. Members of this committee may only serve two (2) consecutive terms.
  2. The responsibilities of this committee shall be:
    1. Each year, the Council Representative to the Memorial Committee shall call an organization meeting of the committee, as soon as possible after the council has elected new members.
    2. Subsequently, the Memorial Committee will meet as needed to take action regarding suggestions received from members of the congregation for Memorial Fund expenditures.
    3. Any member of the congregation, in good standing, may suggest expenditures of Memorial funds. Such suggestions shall be presented to the Memorial Committee, in writing, with estimates.
    4. The Memorial Committee will review and evaluate all suggestions received, as to whether the expenditure of Memorial funds would:
      bulletfill a need of the congregation;
      bulletbenefit the congregation, as a whole;
      bulletbe within the constraints of the fund balance available.
    5. Make the decision as to whether the committee will recommend support of the suggestion or to deny the request. Such recommendations shall be either approved or disapproved, and will include the rationale for the committee’s decision.
    6. All suggestions, whether approved or disapproved by the Memorial Committee shall be forwarded to the Congregation Council for final action.
  3. The final decision regarding expenditures of the Memorial Fund, shall be determined by the Congregational Council.
